Located close to Lake Taihu in Jiangsu Province, China, the Wuxi Show Theatre concept was inspired by the Sea of Bamboo Park in Yixing, the largest bamboo forest in China.

Representing an abstract impression of a bamboo forest, the slender white columns are positioned around the perimeter of the building in such a way as to provide a screen between the building façade and surrounding landscape. The ‘bamboo’ columns clear around the various entrances to help frame the accesses into the building.

The 22 acrobatic hoists are designed for an acceleration of 4 m/s², 60 m travel and a payload of 200 kg. A high-strength plastic rope is used in combination with a specially developed tensioning pulley. This motorized tensioning pulley ensures constant tension of the rope under all load conditions, i.e. even when no load is present. This means that the rope can be accelerated from zero load to full speed while fully guaranteeing safety for the performer.

The 2000 seat theatre has been designed to house a permanent water show by Franco Dragone and opened in 2019.
