Norwegian Escape and Norwegian Joy are the first two cruise ships in the Breakaway PLUS class, with an impressive 164,600 GT and space for 4,200 passengers.

Compared to their predecessors, Norwegian Breakaway and Norwegian Getaway, they are even larger and offer guests an additional deck for more options and innovative entertainment features.

In the " Escape Theatre " (on Norwegian Espace), two Tony Award-winning Broadway musicals are presented and supported by state-of-the-art stage technology from Waagner-Biro Stage Systems. The theaters on all four cruise ships are extensively equipped , including eight proscenium hoists, two lighting trusses, two LED spotlights in the front house and a projection screen.

The stage technology also includes six stage platforms, three of which are located below the stage and three at stage level. These platforms offer the artists a variety of options for their performances and contribute to an impressive production. In addition, there is a wheelchair lift with a surface area of 1.22 m² that provides barrier-free access to the stage area.

The maiden voyages of Norwegian Escape and Norwegian Joy took place in 2015 and 2017 respectively, followed by Norwegian Bliss in 2018 and Norwegian Encore in fall 2019.
