Facts and Figures

Waagner-Biro Stage Systems equipped the Elbphilharmonie with state-of-the-art stage technology: 33 chain hoists, 24 microphone winches, 21 orchestra podiums and 5 secondary podiums. The ceiling optics and room acoustics were also significantly influenced, and telescopic stands in the small hall ensure flexibility.

Once a warehouse for cocoa, tea and tobacco, it is now a symbol of artistic virtuosity and technical finesse:

The Elbphilharmonie is not just a concert hall, but a total work of art that beguiles the senses and pushes the boundaries of what is possible. With its bold, curved roofscape and glass façade, it impresses not only with its aesthetic beauty, but also with its unique location on the banks of the Elbe.

Hidden inside is a technological masterpiece: two concert halls, a hotel and apartments, all characterized by the same dedication to perfection. The heartbeat of the Elbphilharmonie is its impressive concert hall, which lifts 2,150 spectators to a height of 50 meters above the Elbe. In addition, the Small Music Hall offers space for 550 guests and the Quay Studio for a further 170.

Such a fascinating project required equally sophisticated stage technology. Waagner-Biro Stage Systems took on this challenge and equipped the Elbphilharmonie with 33 chain hoists and 24 microphone winches in the main hall as well as 21 orchestra and 5 secondary podiums. This created an impressive infrastructure that met the requirements.

The ceiling optics and room acoustics of the hall were also significantly influenced by Waagner-Biro Stage Systems. The integration of telescopic stands in the small hall not only increased flexibility, but also made it possible to adjust the room acoustics as required.

The grand opening of the Elbphilharmonie lasted more than a day, which underlines the significance of this historic moment. On January 11 and 12, 2017, the Elbphilharmonie finally opened its doors and welcomed the world to a new chapter in music history.
